I was elated to discover this morning that notorious Hispanophobe and major league douche bag Lou Dobbs has left CNN.  Dobbs has used CNN to spread the rumor regarding President Obama’s birth certificate, and has spread many rumors regarding illegal aliens, particularly a malicious one blaming illegal aliens bringing into America leprosy from Mexico.

Dobbs is such a racist he even got into a shouting match with Fox’s Bill O’Reilly and actually made the Fox anchor seem like a board member on the National Council of La Raza in comparison. I remember the argument was over a white man in Pasadena, Texas who discovered two Latino men breaking into his home and then shot them dead. O’Reilly invited Dobbs on the Factor and contended that the homeowner was out of line to shoot two men dead over potentially stolen property.  Dobbs insisted the man was just protecting his property and did the right thing by executing his would-be robbers.

It is because of Lou Dobbs’ consistent Hispanophobia that I have refused to watch CNN in over three years.  I didn’t even watch Latinos in America, most likely a desperate attempt by CNN to attract Latino viewers.

While I do not agree with much of Dobbs’ views, I am a supporter of the First Amendment and never felt CNN should expel Dobbs because of his racist views.  I was glad to learn that CNN told Dobbs about a year ago to tone down his racist views on CNN or resign and not just outright fire him.  Dobbs still has a radio show where he is free to be all the bigot he really is.  I guess Lou decided he couldn’t censor his bigotry any longer.

Dobbs is also an opponent of libertarian values such as free trade, globalization, and immigrant labor (even the legal kind).  Describing Dobbs as the “Dan Rathers of Financial Journalism”, the Cato Institute is equally glad to see Dobbs leave cable television:

“Sadly, Lou Dobbs has become the Dan Rather of financial journalism. He thinks he knows the truth before actually investigating a story and he latches on to whatever documentation he can find, no matter how questionable, that seems to support his thesis.”

Lou Dobbs, you will not be missed.  My only wish is that his time slot be given to a Latino on-air personality if for no other reason than to really stick it to this real-life Archie Bunker.
